4. Why does Gene agree to forego his studies and venture to the tree?

I think Gene goes to the tree because of what Finny says to him. Finny confronts Gene and tells him that he should come to the tree and Gene finally stands up to Finny and says no that he is going to study. Finny finally accepts what Gene says and tells him that if he wants to study he should. Gene is finally respected by Finny and he then goes to the tree to show Finny that he is glad that he cared about what he was doing.
